Discover the many traditional crafts that formed part of Dales life.
The museum allows you to get up close to the work and tools of over 20 different heritage crafts as you tour through our 13 themed exhibition spaces.
There will be a free printed guide that focuses on these traditional crafts, available at reception.
Examples of craftspeople represented are: stone masons, carpenters and joiners, coopers, cloggers, bootmakers and cobblers, saddlers, farriers and blacksmiths, weavers, tailors and dressmakers, clockmakers, leathersmiths, glassblowers, all sorts of handicrafts from knitting to rug prodding, lace making to quilting… and including a few surprises such as exquisite nineteenth century floral displays crafted purely from butter (sadly, only the photos remain but fancy butter-making was a big deal back then and was demonstrated to Queen Victoria).
Children under 16 are free, Adults are £5.
