Based from his North Yorkshire studio, William Watson-West is a painter who creates largely abstract pieces with bold use of colour and texture. His paintings are largely driven by emotions but are based on a foundation of first-hand observations of landscape, flora and fauna. In terms of technique, William often works spontaneously, with confident brushstrokes and mark-making alongside more considered shapes and compositions.
Graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2011, William has since exhibited his paintings at galleries across the north of England, including 108 Fine Art and the Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate.
As William continues to develop and push his work in new directions, he has his sights set on exhibiting further afield in the near future.
