I often work in mixed media and enjoy the ‘happy accidents’ that occur when seemingly incompatible materials are used together. This year I’ve been working mainly on abstract work and enjoying the interplay between intuition and organisation. I love the cross-fertilisation that occurs when working in a variety of techniques. My inspiration comes from an eclectic mix of experiences and from my joy in experimenting with materials.
Born in County Durham, I have lived all my adult life in or near Ilkley where I have been pursuing my own work alongside teaching in school and colleges. After my initial training in the North East I attended Ilkley College , later doing an OU degree in Art history and finally completing my post graduate year at Bretton Hall. I have exhibited in a variety of solo, group and mixed exhibitions locally and further afield, and have enjoyed participating in the NiddArt Trail at Blubberhouses church for the past few years.
