A couple of years ago, after several years focusing on creating textile art, I started painting with watercolours. I enjoy painting birds in particular, inspired by the many visitors to our garden feeders. I am also trying to (slowly!) develop my landscape painting skills. In early 2025 I had a go at linocut printing and fell in love with the art form. I recently began creating multi-block prints and am excited about all the possibilities. I work on my kitchen table, often ‘assisted’ by my two spaniels!
Other than attending several short courses to develop my skills, I’m self-taught, having previously worked in education.
My first exhibition – The Yorkshire Wolds: a Hidden Gem (in textiles) – was at York Hospital over the summer of 2024 and many of the pieces are now on permanent display at Bridlington Hospital.
I live in Hampsthwaite, having been born and brought up in West Yorkshire. I cherish living in Nidderdale. It is such a beautiful landscape, full of stunning views and gorgeous walks. I love to watch the seasons change here. Our family spare time (with my husband and two spaniels) has always been spent walking – be it in the Dales, the North York Moors, the Yorkshire Wolds or coast. I enjoy learning about the wildflowers and wildlife we see and hear on our walks, then use this knowledge in my art work.
