At my home in Knaresborough I hand weave yarn and fibres to create wall hangings and scarves. I also work at Bravo Studios where I have space to work on a larger loom and other projects.
I use locally dyed and spun wool in addition to commercially produced yarn and globally sourced yarns and fibres, including alpaca wool. I like to combine a variety of colours and textures to produce individual and unique pieces.
I also weave shawl pins on wooden rings in colours that complement the scarves.
My wall hangings are inspired by the many colours of the Yorkshire countryside and the changing seasons.
I have lived in many different places, but have finally found my home in Knaresborough. As a former Primary Head Teacher, I had the opportunity to give children the chance to experiment with, and explore many different art media which was extremely rewarding.
Having retired, it’s now my turn! I have explored different media myself, including printing, jewellery making and wire work, but always return to textiles as my first love, and in particular, weaving.
