I make work that thematically fits together – glass fabric, glass bobbins and painted surfaces that explore textiles and emotions
I made a range of work called “Emotional Fabric” in 2023 which has been shown in galleries – work such as lives such as “High conflict” and “Pink Confidence” and “Invisible Work” that talk about psychological states and as I capture the glass threads
These are glass sculptures made from glass threads that are woven – warp and weft – some are 29 inches by 30 inches and a range of pieces that can be hung.
Glass bobbins – and Glass discs and painted boards that emulate the patina and surfaces on industrial mills.
I am an artist and glassmaker – I make glass fabric pieces from glass threads and glass bobbins and also repurpose materials from Mills and Industry – I am interested in weaving and textile narratives looking at our psychological connection to thread and analogies such as “Thread bare” and “Hanging on by a thread” and especially the invisible work of mending and fixing and everyday domestic work such as the invisible load. After research at Mill Archives exploring textile histories and heritage – I made glass sculptures and bobbins and painted surfaces that explore these themes and processes . The work develops on from the Masters research in textile heritage and maintains connections and developments.
My work is on sale at the Sunny Bank Mills Shop Farsley , Leeds and I am available for commissions via my website or Facebook page or by appointment.
