Liz specialises in painting, drawing and mixed media works. Inspiration for work comes from the surrounding environment, with an emphasis on exploring the colour, light, form and layers of landscape and natural forms. Always drawn to the experiences and atmospheres of landscapes, her work evokes a sense of place and season through layers and colour. Structure and form are essential aspects of her compositions.
There is discovery and exploration in recent works as Liz observes her new sense of place, having recently moved to North Yorkshire. Works are often based on walks. Walking affords Liz the opportunity to absorb the changing times and seasons within the landscape. Whilst the paintings are abstractions from the landscape, they are responses to specific spaces and places.
Liz is a fine artist, specialising in painting, drawing and mixed media works. Following a long and happy teaching career, both in the UK and internationally, Liz is now settled in North Yorkshire , where she has a teaching studio in which to work and share her practice.
Liz runs regular workshops and classes from her studio and in the surrounding area and is already feeling very welcomed by the artistic community of North Yorkshire.
Liz will also be participating in North Yorkshire Open Studios and will be joining Cat Croxford for a major joint exhibition at The Station in Richmond, North Yorkshire throughout November and early December 2024.
The NiddArt Trail is a showcase of art and creative work by the local artists, crafts people and makers of Nidderdale and surrounding areas
