My work is mainly abstract landscape employing a mixture of acrylic, collage and oil. I particularly enjoy getting inspiration from large scale sketching directly in the landscape which I then use in often collaged form to provide the ideas for new paintings. I often also paint from memory. As well as painting I enjoy sculpture and have a large metal sculpture of bullrushes installed in Well House grounds – I have more recent wire and real fleece sculptures of sheep and ducks that live near me at Stean.
I’ve been involved in creative activity one way or another for most of my life but have spent a large part of the last 5 years studying painting and printing. I moved to North Yorkshire in 2021 and have now found a place where I can use the natural world around me to inspire art works of many types both 2D and 3D.
