I started first with painting flowers but now I paint whatever interests me using my own photographic reference from trips out and about around Yorkshire. I work with pastels, oils, acrylics and spray paints. My artwork is expressive and colourful, I am very hands on, often applying or spreading paint with my fingers and I love the sticking and gluing of different materials in my mixed media work.
I live in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, and love to paint in my spare time. I started my artistic journey around 20 years ago when I joined a botanical painting group at Pateley Bridge. It was there that I learned basics such as composition and tone and where I was inspired to continue creating artwork.
I am a member of a local community group called Botanical and Beyond, a diverse group of artists who meet regularly in Pateley Bridge. We love to experiment with materials and techniques and to share our ideas and work. I am also a member of the The Harrogate and Nidderdale Art Club and exhibit and sell my work at their exhibitions.
