About my work
Much of my work is mixed media. I enjoy combining materials and exploiting the ‘happy accidents’ that occur when experimenting with different techniques. During lockdown I have been mainly working in abstraction using bright colours as an antidote to the sadness and anxiety that has pervaded the past 18 months
Born in County Durham, I have lived all my adult life in or near Ilkley where I have pursued my own work alongside teaching in school and colleges. After my initial training in the North East I attended Ilkley College, later doing an OU degree in Art History and finally completing my post graduate year at Bretton Hall near Wakefield. I have exhibited in a variety of solo, group and mixed exhibitions locally and further afield. I’ve had earlier forays into North Yorkshire, exhibiting in the Harrogate Open at the Mercer Gallery and with a group of artists who exhibited for several years at Paletey Bridge. This is my second time of exhibiting at Blubberhouses Church.
