My work

About

I have been painting professionally since 2008 and had combined this with teaching Art at Secondary School until I left in order to pursue my career full time.

I paint in oil producing figurative landscapes and townscapes in my own distinctive style featuring genuine places in and around Yorkshire. I bring reality to these settings through observing relationships and everyday situations and being true to life. My characters are all fictional and their faces are rarely revealed in order to keep them anonymous, yet everyone knows and recognises them. Every picture, and the title tells a story, but the narrative of that story is determined by the observer and what it means to them.

I also paint “The Wonderful World of George and Daphne”, which is a series of quirky, brightly coloured paintings, again using Yorkshire for inspiration. As well as the exclusive Gallery Collection, the prints are circulated to retail outlets throughout the UK through Artko Publishers.
