Pateley Bridge Art Club in Nidderdale is a well established group providing members of the local community with the opportunity to make and view artwork.
In normal times we have monthly group meetings with professional speakers, demonstrators and workshops for members to learn about the techniques and craft of making art. Practical sessions include monthly sketching days out and a monthly painting/sketching programme of subjects with photographic references. We also invite professional artists to run one day workshops for small groups of members focusing on their chosen areas of particular interest. Members are encouraged to share their work on the web blog and in the monthly Newsletter.
Two exhibitions each year provide members with the opportunity to share their achievements with the local community and for them to present their work in a more formal environment. This also attracts new and interested people to our club.
The Gallery displays a selection of works exhibited by members in recent years.
The painting are by members of the Yorkshire group using chinese ink and colours. Some are in traditional chinese style and others have western influences.
Lofthouse Art Group is a small, self-help group of amateur artists which usually meets in Lofthouse Memorial Hall on Monday mornings, from 10 till 12. The group uses a wide variety of media and works in diverse styles. Some of the group also enjoy working in a range of crafts. For the past three years they have had the use of The Band Room, opposite Lofthouse Memorial Hall, as a gallery to show-case their work, (which is for sale at very reasonable prices). The Band Room is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.
Clay Paper Scissors offer art, craft and design classes for children. Each class is full of opportunities for learning a wide range of creative skills. Co-founded in January 2020, by two experienced primary art specialists, both passionate about children being able to express themselves through visual art, by developing knowledge and skills and following their own creative instincts as they do so.
A range of classes take place for children aged from 4 to 14 years old. Classes take place on Saturdays, in the school holidays and during the week for the home educating community. The children are most fortunate to be able to use the resources at both the Number 6 Studio Gallery in Pateley Bridge and at Fishpond Wood in Bewerley. Many of the children that attend classes live within Nidderdale, with an increasing number now travelling from as far afield as Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and York.
Clay Paper Scissors also offer private classes, ‘Bags of Creativity’ for children to use at home and are available to curate and deliver exciting creative experiences for schools.
