About my work
I use a variety of different media: pen and watercolour, for sketches that may contribute to print making and painting in oils and acrylics on canvasses. I often paint on a very large scale and in 2008 I completed a 32sq metre commissioned mural in St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Bromley, Kent on the theme of creation. The preparation for this work took 10 years in the dreaming and designing and 1 year in the actual execution for which I had to stand on scaffolding and discovered a dislike of heights. You can see examples this on their website. I am an artist first and foremost and not a business woman. I love to create personal bespoke works of art that speak to and bless the people for whom they have been commissioned.
For as long as I can remember I have loved expressing myself through drawing, painting and the use of vibrant colour. At the age of three my Aunt commented on one of my drawings being ,”Very good,” to which my response was allegedly,”But of course! I am an artist.” My love of creation and the natural world influences my choice of subject matter, I take delight in “weeds” and the overlooked tiny things of great beauty and complexity. I am at my happiest sketching outdoors and as my children often joke, “ You can frequently find mum sitting in a hedge somewhere, often by running water.”
