Fiona’s work focuses on the wonderful world of butterflies, enabling a development of colourful forms. The final firing is raku allowing the work to transform into delicate forms. Electric kiln firing enables Fiona to create unique pieces of work.

4. Joseph Hayton: Stone carver and sculptor @ No. 9 King Street Workshops, HG3 5LE

Joseph works in stone and clay to produce unique sculpture and limited edition bronze pieces. His portrait of James Butler RA was awarded the Tiranti Prize for best work by a sculptor aged 30 and under at the Society of Portrait Sculptors Face 2018 exhibition.

Sculptures created by Joseph Hayton celebrating the heritage of Nidderdale – Three life-size stone figures – a miner, a farmer and a monk stand in a circle on the site of the railway turntable of the Nidd Valley Railway, now Nidd Walk.

The history of Nidderdale shown in 11 rooms of exhibits.  There are fine photographs of the building of Angram and Scar Reservoirs, a colourful display of items associated with fishing in the river, there are curling stones used on Gouthwaite Reservoir in the day when it froze
solid enough and there is information and displays concerning the mills along the river.

Access from Toft Gate Lime Kiln car park, Greenhow Hill, B6265, 2 miles west up hill from Pateley Bridge.

Follow the footpath which climbs 40 metres over an exposed 500 metre walk, so wear suitable footwear and clothing.

‘Silk Tree Installation’ by Jane Carlisle Bellerby – with reference to traditional ‘wish trees’, visitors are invited to reflect upon the importance of ‘thinking places’, sharing their thoughts on silk strips to tie onto the trees. There will also be a display of silk and mixed media work by the artist on sale to raise money for WaterAid.



• Paul Howell : PhotographsThe River Swale near Ivelet in the Yorkshire Dales. It is early autumn and the dark waters reflect the soon to be gone tree canopy above.

Paul’s evocative photographs taken within a few miles of St Andrew’s Church showcase the beauty of the Washburn Valley and its surrounds.

• Duncan Clayton: Woodcraft and Prints

A retired art and craft teacher and textile designer making things in wood: pyrograph plaques, bird boxes, owl styled money boxes and toys in different woods. Also prints of Yorkshire scenes drawn in pen and ink.



• Brian Hindmarch:  Painter & Printmaker
Brian works primarily with the subject of landscape, locally within the Dales, Hebrides, Ireland and Devonshire, producing editions of prints (etchings) and mixed media paintings and drawings in a studio space in Ilkley as a workspace and showcase for his work.


• William Watson West: Silk textiles and prints

William’s paintings offer a new approach to surface pattern design. His vibrant work injects contemporary colour and flair into silk scarfs and textile accessories creating a link to the local countryside that inspires his designs.



Tea, coffee and home made cakes will be available.
